Project:
RESUMERS
Steen & Strøm A/S
Context
How can you aid in the sorting of garbage from stores and customers in a large shopping mall like Field’s Denmark – To the benefit of both the economy and CO2-budget of Field’s? This was the challenge presented to Crone & Co by Field’s and we collaborated with Klaus Samsøe from the CKO-supported project RESUMERS to solve it.
Implementation
Working from an experience-design perspective focusing on co-creation, behavioral design and nudging all employees, management and stakeholders were involved and encouraged to view garbage as a resource.
Initiatives implemented in this project: Redesigning garbage- and sorting stations in Field’s to positive experiences focused on recycling. Through this employees were motivated to sort their garbage. A prototype for a garbage sorting wagon was created, making sorting easy for the stores. To reach as many stakeholders as possible a one-day seminar with the theme “garbage as a resource” was established as a pop-up show in Field’s. Over the course of 3 months, several workshops for kids were held and garbage was transformed into art and sustainable products that were sold.
Results
The project was the reason for better and more positive behavior surrounding garbage in the shopping mall Field’s. Several similar initiatives have later been introduced in Field’s as well as other shopping malls owned by Steen & Strøm.
