Project:
Copenhagen Art Run 2012-2017
Ishøj Municipality
Context
Ishøj Municipality wanted to brand itself as a platform for culture- and nature experiences and started a collaboration with Crone & Co to develop and implement the concept Copenhagen Art Run. The art experience run was executed for the first time in September of 2012 in Ishøj Beach Park with the primary goal of transforming the citizens of the municipality from passive consumers of art and experience to active participants. This was done by introducing art that was easy to understand and engage with along the 5K run. Including a high level of art the run aimed to form a platform for new ideas and in turn contribute to giving the municipality of Ishøj a stronger innovative profile as well as a more positive cultural image of the city.
Implementation
By bringing art and culture into nature a unique and innovative running- and culture experience is established for the participant. The location, Ishøj Beach Park, makes the run easily approachable, even by users that generally don’t interact with the established art and culture institutions. The rules of traditional art experiences are eliminated to outline the interactive and innovative profile of the experience run. Focusing on the good experience and social interaction is an important factor in the planning of the Copenhagen Art Run.
Crone & Co are co-arranging and are responsible for innovation and quality in every aspect of the process. Furthermore, we are responsible for bringing the experience into the future, planning the route, finding artists and creative collaborators, setting up the start- and end area, cultural features, visual identity, PR-activity, Sponsor activity, registration as well as all practical implementation and execution.
Results
Copenhagen Art Run has developed into a professional culture event, that every year brings together people from all layers of society. The event has brought a lot of positive feedback to the City of Ishøj. The event is now at a point where artists themselves contact us for a spot, as they see the potential of the event. The participants highlight the interactive nature of the experience as well as the social interaction as particularly successful.
