Project:
European Emergency Medical Services Congress 2016
Context
European Emergency Medical Services Congress, EMS 2016 gathered researchers, health-care professionals, and managers from the area of emergency medical services and pre-hospital care. This was the first time the Congress was conducted in Europe, and Crone & Co was the official PCO. EMS took place in the spring of 2016 at Tivoli Hotel & Congress Center in Copenhagen, Denmark. We helped in setting overall vision, goals, and direction. It was important to set a high standard to establish the Congress as one that would be coming back in the future.
The slogan “It takes a system to save a life” was important in regards to determining the main themes of EMS2016. Focusing on participant interaction, knowledge sharing and innovation the Congress wanted to be established as a catalyst for new research, education, and product development. Participant interaction was crucial in relation to knowledge sharing – we wanted to make all parts of the system interact and learn from each other.
Implementation
Knowledge sharing was an important factor in giving all the delegates a sense of unity. All parts of the system had to be given an opportunity to be heard and to share their professional insight. This was done through a series of traditional panel debates and keynotes, but also plenty of interactive workshops and hands-on sessions.
We handled the overall project management and coordination including economy and budget, PR-activity, planning, sponsor- and exhibitor activity, coordination with venues, hotels, online event management platform, website, mobile app and development of the logo and visual identity of the Congress.
Results
EMS2016 was a great success with more than 1200 delegates, 37 represented countries, and 23 exhibitors. The evaluation was overwhelmingly positive and, at the last day of the Congress, it was published that the Congress would be coming back again in 2017 – Once again with Crone & Co as the official PCO. The main goals of establishing a recurrent Congress as well as reaching the needed amount of delegates were both reached. EMS2016 was identified by a unique sense of unity – a certain EMS spirit – Everyone was working together towards a common goal, to become better at saving lives all over the world.
