Project:
ESOF2014
Context
Euro Science Open Forum is the largest established science Congress, and in 2014 it took place in Carlsberg Byen in Copenhagen, Denmark. The theme this year was “Science Building Bridges” and this year it was planned and conducted in a collaboration between Crone & Co and The Danish Agency for Science and Education.
ESOF2014 wanted to establish relations between science and the public by bringing science into the streets of Copenhagen.
Implementation
We handled a wide range of logistics including the introduction of an event management platform, hotel bookings, speaker handling, creation of an interactive network forum, mobile app, handling of venues, exhibitor activity, secretariat, and servicing all the participants. More than 200 volunteers were recruited and trained. Furthermore, we handled creative elements such as design and production of graphical material including program, name badges, conference bags, and lanyards.
During the Congress, we also planned and handled several social events including the opening ceremony, ESOF party, and media party.
Results
ESOF2014 was a great success and attracted more than 4500 attendees including 635 journalists, 50 exhibitors, and 489 speakers. The program was extensive, versatile and innovative and extended across 123 sessions. The event also had several outreach activities in the shape of the science festival “Science in the City” bridging the gap between science and the general public.
