Project:
Science in the City
The Danish Agency for Science and Higher Education
Context
As a part of the annual European Congress ESOF2014 (Euro Science Open Forum), The Danish Agency for Science and Higher Education asked Crone & Co to create a program that should help bridge the gap between science and the public.
Implementation
The result of the collaboration was a 6-day science festival conducted in Carlsberg Byen in Copenhagen, Denmark. More than 80 Danish and international actors invited participants to a dialogue about research through interactive exhibitions, science shows, and innovative research communication. Our tasks included practical handling of the festival including coordination of the many events as well as ensuring high quality.
Furthermore, we handled all technical and practical production of Science in the City, contracts, and coordination with internal and external actors, the urban decor of Carlsberg Byen, development of installations, signs and graphical material as well as all logistics and security.
Results
Science in the City was very successful and had more than 38.000 visitors during the six days. All the 84 participating actors had the opportunity to show their research for a wide audience i new and different surroundings. The festival managed to present science in an interesting and interactive way, as well as generate a large amount of awareness by the Danish press.
